"Go and make disciples of all nations" is known as the Great Commission


 In Catholicism, "Go and make disciples of all nations" is known as the Great Commission. Found in the Gospel of Matthew (Mt 28:19), it is the foundational mandate for the Church to spread the Gospel, baptize, and teach the faith to all people. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

The Great Commission is often discussed alongside the Great Commandment (to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart... and love your neighbor as yourself" in Matthew 22:37-39). Together, they form the twin pillars of Catholic life: internal holiness through love and external mission through evangelization. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Core Elements of the Great Commission
  • Evangelization: Sharing the Gospel and introducing others to a transformative relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Baptism: The sacramental entry into the life of the Trinity and the Church community.
  • Catechesis: Teaching others to observe and live out the commands of Christ.
