One Holy Catholic Church To identify as a Christian in the English speaking world there are three choices: one is either a Roman Catholic (RC) (the original Christians) or Anglican (C of E) (created by Henry VIII and the official state religion in the UK) or a Non-conformist (NC), In English church history, the Nonconformists are Protestant Christians who did not "conform" to the governance and usages of the established church, (C of E)

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles Acts 17:15, 22—18:1

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles Acts 17:15, 22—18:1 Wednesday of the Sixth Week of Easter   After Paul's escorts had taken him to Athens, they came away with instructions for Silas and Timothy to join him as soon as possible. Then Paul stood up at the Areopagus and said: "You Athenians, I see that in every respect you are very religious. For as I walked around looking carefully at your shrines, I even discovered an altar inscribed, 'To an Unknown God.' What therefore you unknowingly worship, I proclaim to you. The God who made the world and all that is in it, the Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in sanctuaries made by human hands, nor is he served by human hands because he needs anything. Rather it is he who gives to everyone life and breath and everything. He made from one the whole human race to dwell on the entire surface of the earth, and he fixed the ordered seasons and the boundaries of their regions, so that people might seek God, even perhaps

What to do if You Can’t Go to Confession

https://www.bournemouthoratory.org.uk/what-to-do-if-you-cant-go-to-confession What to do if You Can’t Go to Confession When it’s not possible to go to confession, perfect contrition can also obtain the forgiveness of all sin, including mortal sins. Perfect contrition is a sorrow for sins and a repentance motivated by the love of God (not just fear of punishment). It includes within it a resolution to make a sacramental confession at the next opportunity. (CCC 1451–1452) Perfect contrition is a state of the soul, but we may express it in prayer through the words of the Act of Contrition used during sacramental confession. It is also important to remember that while it is a very good practice to make regular confession of all of our sins, we are only required to confess mortal sins, because mortal sin separates us from the life of God. “For a sin to be mortal, three conditions must together be met: ‘Mortal sin is sin whose object is grave matter and which is also committed with full k

Why Did Jesus Turn Water into Wine?

Why Did Jesus Turn Water into Wine? https://st-ignatius.net/why-did-jesus-turn-water-into-wine/ by  Doug Ponder Jesus’ first miracle—turning water into wine at the wedding of Cana—is ripe with symbolic echoes of the great themes of Scripture. Why should we expect otherwise? Jesus is not the type to do anything haphazardly. Moreover, John the Apostle tells us that this miracle is the first of several  signs  ( John 2:11 ), all of which “are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (20:31). We should not, however, reduce the miracles of Jesus to  mere  signs of His power, as if miracles were nothing more than repeated demonstrations of Christ’s divinity. Instead, we ought to see them as signs of Jesus’ person  and  work, that is, signs of His divinity  and  signs of His divine intentions for the world.  In this way, the miracles of Jesus are not so much supernatural violations of “natural order” as t
